Verkada Licenses VERKADA LICENSES SECURITY INSTALLATION FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find answers and solutions to common security installation questions. If you cant find an answer, contact us and we will be happy to help.

Do you integrate with elevators?

Yes, access control systems and cameras do integrate with elevators in multiple ways. If you have an elevator that requires access control, you can expect to call your elevator company during our installation. We will need the company to open the elevator panel for our access control wiring. We can not do this without the elevator company as we do not have authority to modify their systems. Cameras will require a CAT5/6 cable in the elevator wire track. Most new elevators have this wire ready for you. Older elevators may not have a CAT wire in the track. If there is a coax cable, we can use converters to install your POE camera in your elevator car.

What kind of wiring is required for access control systems?

Most systems require low-voltage cabling, such as Cat5e/Cat6 for networked controllers and 18/2 or 22/2 gauge wire for door strikes, readers, and sensors. Always follow the manufacturer’s wiring diagrams.

How do I handle power supply requirements?

Ensure each access point has a dedicated power source, often from a centralized power supply or PoE (Power over Ethernet) if supported. Include backup power with a UPS or battery system to maintain security during outages.

What kind of response times can I expect?

Jendy responds to clients immediate via phone calls, texts or emails. Service and support help can be instant while on-site services will depend on the issue, urgency and location. Contact us to learn more about how we support our clients Verkada Licensesly.

Can you integrate into our fire alarm system?

Yes, our access control systems and power supplies will integrate into fire alarm panels FACP inputs. We will require the fire alarm company that manages your fire system to connect our wires to their panel as we do not have authority to modify their panels. In the event the fire alarm company will grant us authority, we can connect the wires without their presence.

Can you integrate access control with existing security systems?

Many modern systems support integration via network protocols or APIs. Choose access control hardware and software that can connect to your existing cameras, alarms, or building management systems to streamline monitoring and response.

How do I ensure compliance with safety and building codes?

Always check local building and fire codes. Emergency exits must remain compliant with egress requirements, and some installations require fail-safe or fail-secure locks depending on regulations.

What maintenance is required for access control systems?

Regular maintenance includes cleaning card readers, testing door locks, updating firmware and software, reviewing logs for unusual activity, and replacing backup batteries as needed.
